The Pondside Pyralid Moth (Elophila icciusalis) is a moth of the Crambidae family. It is found in most of North America.The wingspan is 16 26 mm. Adults are on wing from June to September. The larvae are aquatic and feed on Menyanthes, Lemna, eelgrass, Potamogeton and Cyperaceae species. A moth is an insect closely related to the butterfly, both being of the order Lepidoptera. Moths form the majority of this order; there are thought to be 150,000 to 250,000 different species of moth (about ten times the number of species of butterfly), with thousands of species yet to be described.
